# Export your design to Rechat: one or multiple templates with Variations

A variation lets you design a template once and send several versions of it to Rechat.

### Why use variations?

Imagine you’ve designed a **Just Listed** flyer. Now you also need versions for **Just Sold**, **Coming Soon**, **Open House**, and **New Price**.

Without variations, you’d need to duplicate the design for each version. That means multiple files to maintain whenever something changes, like the logo, disclaimer, or layout.

**Variations let you keep everything in one design.** You simply define which parts change between versions, and the plugin creates each variation for you. Each variation is then added to Rechat as its own template.

There are two things you can change between variations:

* **Text.** for example, changing “Just Listed” to “Just Sold”
* **Layer visibility.** for example, showing an Open House date and time only on the Open House version

Everything else stays shared across all variations.

### The variations table

The **Template** tab shows all the variations available for the selected design.

* **Template name:**&#x54;he name of the template in Rechat. It defaults to *File Default*.
* **Variation name:** The name of the variation, such as *Just Listed* or *Just Sold*. The default variation doesn't have a name and is shown as a dash.

Hover over a variation to access:

* **View in Rechat**
* **Edit** (pencil icon)
* **More** (three-dot menu)

Every design must have at least one variation, so you can't remove the last one.

### How to add variations

#### Add one at a time

You can add variations individually or add several common listing variations at once.

#### Load the common listing statuses at once

If you're building a listing template, you don't need to add each status by hand.

1. Click the **arrow** on the right side of the Add Variant button.
2. Choose **Load listing variations**.
3. The **Get all listing variations** window opens and shows the available statuses: Coming Soon, Just Listed, Open House, New Price, Under Contract, Just Sold, Just Rented, For Rent, For Sale.
4. Any status you already have is greyed out with a checkmark next to it. Those are skipped, so nothing is duplicated.
5. The button tells you how many will actually be added, for example **Add 8 Variations**. Click it.

### Step 1: Make the status text change automatically

You can make the status text update automatically based on the variation.

For example, instead of creating separate text layers for “Just Listed,” “Just Sold,” and “Coming Soon,” you can use the **Variation name** placeholder.

1. Select the text layer containing the status.
2. Go to **Placeholders** → **Template** → **Variation name**.

The text will now automatically show the name of the current variation.

> This only works with live text. Outlined or flattened text won't update. In case you are using outlined/flattened text, you can use variation visiblity option instead.

### Step 2: Show or hide layers per variation

Sometimes a piece of content only makes sense for one version.

For example, an **Open House** flyer might need a date and time block, while the other variations don't.

Instead of creating separate designs, you can control which variations show that content.

1. Select the layer or group.
2. Go to **Content Settings** → **Variation visibility**.
3. Turn off **Visible in all variations**.
4. Select only **Open House**.

Now the layer will only appear in the Open House variation.

You can use the same approach for things like a **SOLD** banner, a **price-drop badge**, or any other content that's specific to one variation.

### Step 3: Fill in each variation's details

Hover over any variation and click the **Pencil** icon to edit its details.

Each variation can have its own:

* Template name
* Variation name
* Tags
* Description
* Category
* Subcategory

These details are sent to Rechat with the variation and help agents find the right template.

### Push your variations to Rechat

When you're ready to send your design to Rechat:

* **Add to Rechat:** Appears when the design hasn't been published to Rechat yet. Click it to publish the template for the first time.
* **Update in Rechat:** Appears after the design has already been published to Rechat. Use it to send any new changes or updates to your existing template and its variations.

### Deleting a variation

Deleting a variation in Figma only removes it from your Figma design.

**It does not remove the template or variation from Rechat.**

If you want to stop agents from seeing that variation, you'll also need to delete it from the accounts where the template has already been added in Rechat.

### Good to know

* Every design keeps at least one variation. You can't delete your way down to zero.
* Shared design edits apply to every variation. If you only want a change in one variation, use Variation visibility instead of editing the shared layer.
